For the little story, gospel is originally a religious song of African Americans, which expresses faith. Gospel arrived in New York, particularly in Harlem thanks to the movement of the black population. Today, tourists can attend these masses, particularly on Sundays. The African-American cultural and intellectual movement or so called Harlem Renaissance was born in Harlem with jazz. Indeed jazz musicians like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington have become world famous thanks to their contribution to this movement.
Nowadays, you can still listen to jazz music in the iconic Apollo Theater, a very famous concert hall in the Harlem neighbourhood and a symbol of black American music from the 1940s, and you may go the Cotton Club. These clubs have hosted the biggest names in jazz, music and dance legends.

Every year, on the 2nd Sunday of June, a Puerto Rican festival is organized in the 116th street in East Harlem .Started in 1985, this festival which is based on Latin culture aims to celebrate the contribution of the Puerto Rican community in NY. We find famous latin music as well as famous tasty food of country and dancing. This event lasts 2 days and ends with a parade.
So If you are there on that day, this festival is a good way to experience Latin culture and meet new people. You might even have the chance to meet miss porto-rico who comes to denounce hurricanes in Porto rico.
